As he's still the mascot of a magazine series that focuses on video games while also starring in some collabs in the previous decade (that he's probably known for the most in Super Mario Maker and maybe that loosely based genderbent version of him that was in Hyperdimension Neptunia as she basically has the same name as the magazine series), why shouldn't he star in his very own video game? Well, that's what I thought of lately...
And this is what the synopsis could sound like:
"When you traveled to Japan for a while, you didn't expect to see this fox who was "on-the-go" could bump into you! And right after when you both introduced yourselves, Necky thought it would be a good idea to hang around with you for some days so the both of you can have a chance of becoming friends together! Even there are surprises waiting down the road."
So, when it comes to the genres, they're like a mish-mash of simulation (especially on the life part), virtual pet, action, rhythm, music video, and adventure when it comes to many of their of the elements being used.
Not to mention the games main title would possibly be; "Famitsu: Necky's Mighty Momentum". And when it comes to the inspiration of the game (like one of the main ones) is "Needy Girl Overdose/Needy Streamer Overload" despite I didn't play this one honestly... But I did see some of the gameplay online how it went through (but at times, the dark themes can be a bit too much if I was able to play this game). Regardless of that, I think it's a pretty interesting one on how it tackles internet fame pretty well. But instead of getting dark, this game starring Necky would be much more lighthearted and fun to match the cartoony style of Susumu Matsushita's world. But I guess there would be a "bad ending" in there if you really neglect Necky in the long run.
Yeah, like Ame-chan in NGO/NSO and many virtual pets no matter if it's Tamagotchi, Punirunes, and etc., Necky would have these "meters/stats" on how happy, sad, and etc. he is through the "Mood Gauge". And if you feed him something like a rice ball/onigiri on a stressful day, then his "Refuel Gauge" goes up! But it would be better if you gave him his favs like melonpan and donuts as they tend to raise both gauges up (but speaking of melonpan and donuts, that's a headcanon that I thought of for Necky).
As you're around Necky, there are "missions" to complete for the day depending on how he's feeling (as this could be random). And when it comes to these missions, they could be filled with mini-games like having a photoshoot for Famitsu magazine as he was to wear something like a cosplay over a certain video game character (like Mario from Nintendo for example), to help him practicing singing and dancing, or going on a "snack run" to a specific city. Speaking of singing, that's when he'll start showing his "singing voice" the more time you spent with him as he wants to have global recognition to become a star on stage!
But in order to achieve that, you gotta take good care of him without making him feel so burnout from all of the other missions. And also like NGO/NSO, there are gonna be multiple endings to show on how things went so far...
The "Starry Fame, Here I Come!" Ending:
Basically on where the player took good care of him alongside of getting his missions done with perfect scores, tends to manage his media appearances, and Necky finally gets to debut his live concert while being happy, well-fed, and rested. Even this is where Necky has his voice more steady on where the one of the mini-games had him sing pretty spot-on like pitch perfect to the song to the song that you chose.
(AKA the best ending)
The "Global Fame? Nah! You're More Worth It Than That!" Ending:
This is when the player decides that the concert isn't gonna be worth it (like the stress for instance). So, they skip the concert while Necky doesn't become a massive star. But other than that, Necky's well-fed and glad to hang around with their best friend.

The "GAAAAHAH!!! Too Much Burnout!" Ending:
This is where things start to get pretty rough as the player pushes him too hard! There's too many cosplays, not enough sleep, and too many "small snacks" like rice balls/onigiri without any substantial meals! This is where Necky becomes completely moody and withdrawn, losing his energy, and maybe even miss his concert or preform terribly (that he could have a potential laughing stock as the audience mocks him rather than making genuine comedy alongside with him).

Even I was thinking about other stuff like Necky meeting some of the other characters that would expand more on the "worldbuilding" who could've lived not too far from Necky's home like Mac Bear who appeared on many, many "Weekly Young Jump" magazine covers (since they're both drawn by the same artist) or that one guy (I don't know who he's called or what animal he is that appeared alongside with Necky on those "Famitsu Bros." magazine covers since I've tried to do a bit of research on that character but couldn't find anything much about him as of now)... Having Necky hang out with some attractive women for the heck of it, having the player take Necky out to eat as Necky eats a lot without getting sick that he also has a belly over it, having you to pet him whenever he's not feeling "too moody", or getting hungry that you might hear his tummy grumble.
As for the songs themselves, I'll have a list of song choices that I'll write down within the next post whenever I talk more about these possible ideas for this game soon. Plus, as to why I didn't mention much of Mr. Matsushita's characters as much, it's because like the one guy who was mainly a "duo-buddy" alongside with Necky are likely obscure with information about them and I'm still doing more research about this guy's artwork since I'm starting to pretty much like his cartoony art style that makes me wanna go into his "world" even more.
