SpongeBob Showing Patrick Garbage Meme... AGAIN! But With This Time, It's About Niches.

Or at least the good kind of niche stuff that I'm into (for the most part).

But before I explain what exactly these things are within the meme, this comment right here gave me the inspiration as to why I made this meme (that I've tried to restate their comment within the first panel):

Like, really? You think Animaniacs is niche?! To me, I really don't think so. And I get it it's not as very popular as it is today compared back in the 90's, but it's still a show that some people (including me) tend to talk about to this very day. And that's also like saying "This [insert popular 90's cartoon here like Rugrats, Tiny Toon Adventures, Ren & Stimpy and etc.] is a niche thing!" compared to other cartoons that also came out during the 90's that weren't as popular or were just forgotten about.

As for the 2020 reboot, though... I think it's starting to age like milk ever since it came out and the more it aged rottenly in my brain (despite wanting to like the reboot at some point). And recently, one of the VAs spoke about it in a negative light:

Man, if this is actually true, then please give me that video footage! Because I so wanna see it if that's really the case.

Plus, there's also this right here:

Yeah, not a great sight to see whenever you have people on a platform that I don't like complain about the reboot to this day.

With that said, let's get on to the rest of the meme starting off...

1.  Punirunes and other virtual pets that aren't from Tamagotchi.

Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the Tamagotchi knock-offs that are the low-quality types, but to focus more of the unique kind of virtual pets like Punirunes as I think it's starting to become less niche than how it was in the early 2020's. But still people would likely find Punirunes to be niche, I guess? Or heck, stuff like back in the late 2000's there was "My Meebas" that's actually more niche than Punirunes as for it's own unique feature out of it was, once it becomes an adult that's too big to fit on the screen, a "surprise plush" will come out as if you help to pull it up on the tube so your friend/pet can get out of there as if it was greeting you in the real world.

And if you want more info about My Meebas, than here's this blog post about 'em done by this guy! 👇

Anyway, onto the next section!

2. MC Skat Kat & his Stray Mob

Well, if you're already familiar with the whole "Opposites Attract" song done by Paula Abdul, there's no introduction to be needed there! But what not many people talk about is MC Skat Kat's own crew AKA the "Stray Mob". As MC Skat Kat was getting more popular back in the early 90's, he had more of a crew than just the three members appearing in the OA MV as only Taboo [the cat wearing the yellow shirt], Fatz [the cat wearing the glasses] and Micetro who was the silent one that never sung until the "Skat Strut" music video came out as he was lip-syncing a part of the sampled "Let's Groove" bit as that was Earth, Wind & Fire's song).

As for the other members of the group, there was Leo (the big guy) and the two girls out of the group that are Katleen and Silk.

And if you wanna know more about 'em, well here's this site to guide you as I can move on to the next section!

3. Obscure or "Unpopular" anime from the 2010's!

Believe it or not, I actually got a few of them on DVD as they're "Nurse Witch Komugi R" and just recently "Seiyu's Life!"... As for NWKR, I think it was an alright reboot for what it was (and it was much better than Animaniacs 2020 imo) and as for Seiyu's Life, I haven't gotten able to watch it yet as I was writing this out, but I've heard the songs were good! Aside from watching a few clips as well. And as for the other two things that are also shown in the fourth panel are Hacka Doll and Etotama! As for Etotama, I just realized that all the episodes are up on YouTube as of October 2024! And no one ever told me that. As for Hacka Doll, though... I was able to watch all the episodes once back like in the 2010's that I thought it was decent. Still gotta watch it again someday! Even I don't have to buy any of the expensive Etotama physical media out there (especially on Amazon).

Note: This is my first time talking about Hacka Doll and Seiyu's Life on my blog.

4. Luminary Tears (AKA Mahou no Lumitear)

As for this one, I already explained a bit of it in my "Top 3 Niche Things That I'm Into" post. And like the other anime being previously mentioned, this also had one too! But I didn't get to watch all of them (as I was writing this out), though... At least I find it okay.

5. Lady Unicorn (by Marco Albireo)

Oh yeah, if you want a magical girl who's an adult that also goes by solo, then this is something for you! And hopefully, this can get an English translation someday! Well, if not, if not. Still a great concept, though.

6. Finally, Susumu FREAKIN' Matsushita!

OH YEEEAAAHHH! If you're into characters that aren't in the style of today's cartoons (especially American ones), then take these American-inspired Japanese toons done by this guy! And if you can tell from my blog by now, you can tell who my favorite is. Even I also mentioned his stuff in that one post that I previously mentioned (you know, "Top 3 Niche Things That I'm Into").

P.S. I know I haven't talked about some of the stuff like the anime much that you can probably look that up on your own like on my blog or from other websites. And as for the My Meebas thing, I think the concept was cool, but never owned one at all... Speaking of MM again, I think I saw a commercial on it back in the day (but I dunno on how many times when I saw it as my memory being much younger back then isn't the best at times). Plus, as to why the post's title has the "AGAIN!" part, as I made another version to this prior.

(I know I think I already stated that I wasn't gonna post anymore Twitter links on my blog, but here we are in a rare case that probably I'm not gonna post anymore Twitter links again... Until another rare moment again).

💟 ~Lady Unicorn~ 💟

Yeah, I know I'm going through more of those Pinterest templates... But aside from that, does Lady Unicorn remind ya of Cutie Honey? Well, to me it does. And look at my previous about her if you're unfamiliar with her.

~Can't get over on how pretty Lady Unicorn is~

So, "What's this?" that you might be asking towards yourself, for starters, it is a magical girl story that was made outside of Japan (and isn't the first when you lookback at something like Lolirock as an example) and it was created by Marco Albireo... Yes, that very same guy that brought you of bringing back the Sailor Moon 90's anime art style for official merchandise/home media Viz releases as of today (aside from the 2000's and 90's merch). And speaking of Lolirock for one last time, did you know that Marco did the comics for Lolirock and also putting the Lolirock princesses if they had the 90's Sailor Moon art style? Just had to mention that.

Anyway, back to Lady Unicorin!

For those that didn't look up on what this one-shot story is about, here's the synopsis:

Note: Screenshot taken from this site. Not to mention that this one-shot is only in the #3 one.

On what I like about the synopsis is:

1. It's nice to see a magical girl inherit another magical girl's powers when after the original user passed away to make things fresh that you don't usually see the typical magical girl anime do that. But thankfully it also doesn't follow the rules similarly to the whole "Soul Gem" thing in Madoka Magica because, once that Soul Gem breaks, you're dead.

2. The return of the solo magical girl protagonist ever since the days of Shugo Chara or Princess Tutu were considered "new" at the time! But I also know about the much older solo magical girl protagonists like Minky Momo, Creamy Mami, Pastel Yumi,  Magical Angel Sweet Mint, Magical Emi, and the Magic Fairy, Persia to say some of them at least. Even though I don't watch any of these animes as much (aside from Princess Tutu being mentioned so far since it was a childhood anime of mine that I should rewatch someday).

3. Should I mention that this is magical girl story that isn't aimed at kids unlike a lot of magical girl anime shows are today? And you'll see on what I've meant about that as I'll get to Lady Unicorn's civilian identity within a second here... Aside from using "magical lipstick" that could be advertised as a kids' toy (as makeup products are still likely a thing within the magical girl genre of today as if you look at Japan on how they treat Sailor Moon and Precure at times), but instead of getting your usual teenage protagonists like with Sailor Moon, Precure (mostly), Cardcaptor Sakura, Nurse Witch Komugi R (not to be confused with the original NWK anime), and etc., you actually get a magical girl protagonist who's actually in their middle 20's! 25, that is. Plus, I should mention that Sarah's a graphic designer who was also coming out of a bad, toxic relationship as she's now single for three years. But she even has thing going on for someone, as she secretly loves on a new marketing director that she saw.

Despite there isn't that much about this one-shot manga story (as it's still new at the same time as I'm writing this out), I thought this was going to worth to be a shot if I actually got to read the whole thing someday! But I saw some pages online (especially one of the pages told us about Sarah like I've just said as it can be viewed online if you wanna translate it yourself through Google reverse image search). But once I get the whole story to share someday, I possibly translate it if it doesn't get translated for some years. Even I think I'm more interested into this than something like: "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl" since I'm not that interested into it... Especially when that one has one of the laziest Sailor Moon references that I ever did saw before.
