Well, I was thinking about this just to get this idea out of the way...
And I don't think Necky could've translate well into full-on CGI as I do wanna see him a this 2D character still. Anyway, despite I'm still working on my anime and video game ideas (that's also for Necky btw), I even thought of this on how it could've worked.
As for the ideas that I came up for so far:
1. It would be like this buddy comedy movie (but not "buddy-cop" type since I think I'm starting to see more of the "buddy-cop" type within a bunch of movies nowadays).
2. Of course, it would likely be this usual setup of a human character mainly interacting with the toon for the journey. And for my choice on who could've played that "human character" is no other than Jack Black. Yes, that Jack Black you're all thinking of.
3. Speaking of the "human character" that Jack Black would've played as, he would be more of the "straight man" while also having some humor into him at times similar to Tom Wachowski in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie series. Even the "human character" would have similar interests to Necky's own interests.
4. Upon on what Necky is wearing on the 1500 issue cover (that the picture being used in the meme did came from), I could've imagined that he's like this "Ameriboo" that wants to visit America at some point.
5. Speaking of Necky's "Ameriboo-ism", it would proudly show his love for things like David Lee Roth, Rodney Dangerfield, Yakko Warner from Animaniacs, and owning a t-shirt of Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat pattern on it. And this all headcanons for Necky that I've thought about over the months as of writing this.
6. The film's soundtrack would likely to consist of songs like "Just Like Paradise" by David Lee Roth and "Video Games" by Tenacious D (but isn't considered as a musical btw... Despite the fact that we would have the two main leads singing a certain song together that's like a homage to one of the scenes from "Paulie "when title character and Ivy are singing to "What's New Pussycat?" by Tom Jones).
